As the primary instructors in the Catholic Faith, if you child has a reasonable reason that they cannot attend on Tuesdays, they should be learning at home.  This includes if a child will be gone for lengthy periods of time due to a sport.  Please contact Kelly Ley for more information.

Grade 2 is a simple introduction to Bible stories and teachings of the faith. It includes material on the Sacrament of Penance, the Mass, and the Eucharist. Elements of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd are implemented in this class.

The theme of Grade 3-4 is God's plan to save his people from sin (Salvation History), how we participate in that plan, and the many ways God helps us in our pilgrimage on earth to Heaven through his word, his law, and his Church.

The theme for the year is Introduction to the Creed, teaching of the Faith focusing on God the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit.

THEME for 6th Grade: The blueprint for a life of love: the law of God, especially in the Ten Commandments, and the presence of Jesus in the Holy Mass. The interaction of the challenges of God's law and his gifts of grace that help us fulfill his law.

7th Grade catechesis will be taught by Mr. Mark Stevens and Mrs. Jackie Stevens.  Mr. & Mrs. Stevens have taught for many years and Mr. Stevens is the 8th grade teacher at Our Lady School.  The theme for the year is the Sacraments.

This class is to prepare students to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the spring of 2024.  Confirmation will be held at Our Lady of Good Hope on Saturday, May 11 at 10:00 am at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Level 1 Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori approach to Catechesis.  Classes are rooted in Scripture, the Life of Christ, and nomenclature of Catholic Sacraments.  (i.e. In one presentation, students work with smaller replicas of the paten and chalice and learn how Father sets the Altar table for the Eucharistic celebration and in later presentations learn what the gestures mean such as Epiclesis and Offering.)  

Students learn self control and quiet contemplation for prayer through the pace of the Atrium.  Students may look with their eyes at any materials but may not work with the material until it has been presented to them.  This promotes wonder and awe of the things of God.  Students are given new presentations each week and then are allowed to work with any materials that have already been presented to them.  

This class is taught by Certified CGS Catechist Mrs. Debbie Hillman who has been leading CGS Atrium sessions since 2016 and has been a Catechist for over twenty five years.
